Commission addresses monument damage, mowing practices and hedgehog holes

Grounds staff Joe Mangan said he had asked crews to blow grass off monuments after mowing but added it can be difficult "especially when they mow and the grass is long and wet." The exchange prompted a discussion of mowing practices and monument protection.
The board also noted hedgehogs have returned and are creating holes in upper and lower cemetery areas; members agreed to contact the person who assisted previously to address the problem. Joe Mangan said he would take pictures of headstones that are down so the board can decide which can be stood up and which require more extensive repair.
