Williamstown commissioners discussed redevelopment opportunities for legacy properties during the Municipal Plan kickoff. Participants identified two areas of interest: the Unifirst parcel near the high school and a former town dump near the ball field where test monitors remain in place.
Commission Chair Rich Turner referenced a regional meeting in which CVRPC noted a recent Brownfields award. "Eli mentioned Brown Fields ' they just got a million dollars this month," Turner said, pointing to a potential funding source CVRPC could help the town pursue as the plan identifies redevelopment priorities. Commissioners asked CVRPC to track remediation grant opportunities and to flag constraints such as monitoring or contamination history in plan maps.
CVRPC staff said some funding programs may support reuse or cleanup and will help identify applicable grant sources as part of the plan's economic-development and land-use mapping tasks.
