Commissioner revises Education chapter after school-district consolidations

Rama Schneider, a planning commission member, told CVRPC staff she revised the Education chapter to reflect governance changes stemming from district mergers and supervisory union consolidation since 2018. Schneider said many school-policy issues are managed outside town government and that the chapter should reflect that separation.
"The disconnect is wider. Other than that, it is the same people in the town ' governance wise there is no connection," Schneider said, describing how local education governance reorganization affects what belongs in a municipal plan. She offered to send CVRPC the revised chapter in a compatible text format so staff could incorporate it into the draft plan.
CVRPC staff requested the text and feedback on whether older plan photos or materials are available for reuse; Schneider and the commission agreed to forward relevant materials to CVRPC.
