Council members agreed to sell three city vehicles—two police Explorers and a Toyota Tundra—and to keep an F-150 in the fleet for dual detective and city-planner use. The council also discussed allowing City Planner Madison Brown to use her personal vehicle for work with mileage reimbursement.
As part of aligning vehicle-related costs across departments, councilors approved adding a vehicle maintenance category to the public works and fire department budgets, allocating $8,000 to each department to mirror the police budget's maintenance line. The council recorded that allocation as part of its tentative budget adjustments.
Beyond fleet issues, councilors discussed how to fund emergency services, including possible options such as a sales-tax increase, a rooftop fee, or a public-safety fee added to water bills to cover ambulance and related costs. Mayor Travis Mote asked staff to compile total emergency-services costs and the percentage of calls coming from South Willard to inform a future decision.
