During the reports section, council members and staff highlighted near-term planning and outreach priorities including grant applications, a winter retreat and parts of the city-center small area plan.
Councilmember Stevens and staff noted the city is preparing a major grant proposal for more than $200,000 for Meadows Park, and another grant for Nature Park surfacing (including a splash pad) was described as part of recreation programming. Staff outlined plans for the city-center small area plan, including stakeholder meetings in mid-January and a public open house and survey anticipated in mid-February; council and staff said a joint review with the Planning Commission is planned in March. The mayor and staff also discussed Local Officials Day at the state legislature (Jan. 21) and logistics for a Jan. 23–24 council retreat in Salt Lake City.
Staff emphasized outreach and follow-up steps: finalize retreat logistics, prepare the grant applications and public survey, and bring city-center workshop details to the public when dates and locations are confirmed.
