John Anderson, South Ogden's public works director, presented the infrastructure portion of the strategic plan at the Nov. 18 council meeting. Anderson said the city's road program has relied on a bond that provides about $1.3 million annually for maintenance and described this year's projects including a rebuild on 900 East and chip-seal and overlay work.
Anderson said the city's GIS program has markedly reduced field time and is near completion for water mapping: "Water, we're probably about 95% done," he reported; sewer mapping is "about 80%" and storm system work is roughly "75%." Anderson also raised facilities needs, noting an older public-works building with a rubber roof that staff recommend replacing and mentioned a bid figure in the discussion about roof work.
Council thanked Anderson for the update; staff said capital-improvement project details and department year-end reports will be available ahead of the council retreat to help prioritize next-year investments.
