Council backs South Ogden partnership with America250 Utah

The South Ogden City Council voted to adopt Resolution 25-33 on Nov. 18, authorizing the city to participate in America250 Utah's statewide celebration planning. Staffer Danielle told the council the designation will allow South Ogden to name a community committee (including council and youth members), use the America250 logo on events and apply for small grants to support locally proposed programming.
"So in order for South Ogden to officially help celebrate, there's a couple things we have to do," Danielle said, describing potential applications for events such as the Heritage Trail ribbon cutting and the city's fireworks show. Council moved, seconded and approved the resolution by roll-call without extended debate.
Danielle said the city expects to use any branding and small grants to help public events and to highlight community heritage projects. No specific dollar-amount grants were announced on the record during the meeting.
