The council approved Resolution 25‑30 to renew the city’s franchise agreement with Comcast for 10 years and to continue a 5% fee on gross revenues for use of the public right‑of‑way.
"It's a 10 year franchise agreement, establishes the same 5% fee on gross gross revenues," planning/administration staff told the council while outlining the franchise terms and the role of the agreement in allowing service providers to place infrastructure in streets and park strips.
Council moved, seconded and approved the resolution by roll call. Staff said the Comcast agreement largely follows the framework the city has used with other franchisees and that the fee returns revenue to the city in exchange for right‑of‑way use.
What happens next: the franchise agreement will be executed by city staff and Comcast under the approved resolution.
