Marcy Reese, speaking during public comment, encouraged the district to proceed with offering aftercare at Edison for students from Radburn and Milam, saying the idea is "an excellent idea" and a practical solution for parents who faced long wait lists. She asked how to join the superintendent's community leadership council and urged the education committee to look into kindergarten-readiness testing for children born late in the year.
District administration told the board that a family interest survey was sent that day and said a decision about opening an Edison aftercare site with transportation and a pickup at Edison will be made next week based on family responses. The superintendent said staff will provide further updates later in August and in the fall as projects progress.
