The City of Goose Creek planning commission voted to approve annexation of a 0.55-acre parcel along St. James Avenue and assign City General Commercial (GC) zoning.
A staff member described the application for tax map number 2231303038, saying, "The acreage is approximately 0.55 acres." The staff presentation noted the parcel is currently vacant, lies along Highway 176 near a major collector/minor arterial intersection, and that the comprehensive plan designates this area as a target for annexation to support compatible development. "The staff recommendation this evening is for approval," the staff member said.
A committee member moved to approve the annexation and assignment of General Commercial zoning; another commissioner seconded and the motion carried. The staff also noted the applicant is pursuing annexation with city council concurrently, and any development would have to meet the city's site development standards for access, parking, buffers and landscaping.
