Council asks for phased estimates for fire station remodel after staff flags grant pause

A council member (S9) asked that the proposed fire station remodel be split into phases so the city can evaluate costs and potential sponsor or grant support. "On the fire station remodel, we asked to split that out into phases, and I don't see that here. Do we have any estimates on those current phases that we got about?" S9 asked.
Staff (S2) said they do not yet have estimates on phasing and will work with the fire team to produce them. Separately, staff (S6) reported a recent notice from the state emergency manager that federal funding for the hazard mitigation grant program is currently turned off, which puts identified resiliency projects (water tanks, city hall, public works) on hold unless other funding is found.
Council members discussed pursuing phased work or sponsorships for parts of the project; staff said it will follow up with estimates and funding options for council consideration.
