So this is grant dollars that we're receiving from the federal government," Steve said, explaining the project is funded by a federal appropriation secured with congressional staff assistance.
Staff said 12 bidders competed for the project and that Mach Energy submitted the low bid. The plan is to replace the main and, if feasible, extend the replacement beyond the hospital connection. The Authority moved and, after a roll call, approved awarding the contract to Mach Energy LLC.
The award follows engineering review and is presented as grant‑funded disaster‑relief work; staff noted the project addresses a long‑standing reliability risk associated with the existing 16‑inch main and will be coordinated with engineers and public‑works crews.
