Resident urges fixes to crosswalks and sidewalks, calls Goose Creek biking 'very dangerous'

Kevin Patterson, who identified himself as a Goose Creek resident of 31 years, used the public-comment period to press the city for sidewalk repairs and safer crossings where bike lanes and pedestrian routes meet busy roads.
"It's very dangerous to drive a bike in Goose Creek," Patterson said, adding that the crosswalk button near Lowe's/Chick-fil-A does not function and that Crowfield Boulevard crosswalks are not working. He provided photos to the council and said he had asked state crews to mark hazards, but the problems remained. The mayor acknowledged receipt of Patterson's photos and said he would share them with county and DOT staff to pursue repairs.
Patterson also said he would volunteer for trails work and praised the city's bicycle and pedestrian committee documents; he asked the council to continue work on connectivity projects and sidewalk maintenance to reduce hazards for bicyclists and walkers.
