Garland Youth Council members spent the bulk of the meeting developing plans for a GYC Field Day scheduled for Saturday, April 25, asking council members to commit to volunteer roles and finalize booth activities.
"So mainly, what we'll be doing is we'll be talking about our volunteers. So we need at least 15 people to volunteer for this event for the field day," the Moderator said while asking members to confirm availability and mark the group chat. Organizers clarified the date (changed from an earlier calendar entry) and said they will hold a final planning meeting on April 14 to assign booth responsibilities, confirm rotations by age group and sort logistics such as water, lunch and cooling stations.
Members proposed games and stations (balloon toss, tug‑of‑war, obstacle courses, cup stacking) and discussed sourcing materials from Garland Parks & Recreation storage or local donations. Parks & Rec staff noted they can provide inflatable equipment, staff supervision inside and outside, and first‑aid‑certified personnel to handle medical needs and restroom escorts.
