A public-safety official presented the city's annual crime report and highlighted substantial year-over-year declines: a reported 24.3% reduction in violent crime and a 28.8% reduction in property crime for 2025. "Last year in 2025, we saw one of the greatest reductions in crime we've seen in the city since I've been working here for 30 years," the presenter told the audience.
The official cautioned that despite the overall decline some neighborhoods face specific problems: an uptick in burglaries of storage sheds and garages and ongoing quality-of-life concerns such as racing and loud cars. He described task-force operations targeted at racing and encouraged residents to report incidents promptly; law enforcement uses a system called NIDAS to track guns and link incidents.
