Commission approves Goodland Light Industrial plan amendment, zone change to Business Park

The City of Grand Prairie Planning & Zoning Commission unanimously approved a comprehensive plan amendment (CPA-26030007) and a companion zoning change and concept plan for the Goodland Light Industrial area, a largely conceptual request to align the future land use map with proposed Business Park zoning.
Staff told commissioners the change would clean up map boundaries and allow a continuous development pattern; the applicant previously acquired an additional 70-acre parcel adjacent to an already developing district. "This is generally where the Goodland project is located," staff said in the presentation, noting roughly 136 acres already under construction for proposed data centers and that the remainder of the 1,500-acre notification area remains conceptual. The Development Review Committee recommended approval.
Commissioners asked about infrastructure and timing; staff explained developers have coordinated with public utilities and engineering for water towers, sewer and road improvements to serve future phases. After questions, Chair Cheryl Smith moved to close the hearing and approve items 2 and 3 per DRC recommendations; the motion passed unanimously. The commission’s recommendation will be forwarded to City Council for final action.
