County updates IT transition; vendor policy on emergency purchases tabled for later review

Sam Goldsmith, the county—s IT representative, told the court that the sheriff's office and tax office have completed migration of email addresses to the county domain and that the broader transition to a cloud-based financial/tax system is underway. "The email con transition to correelcountytx.gov continues," Goldsmith said, and he asked for direction on how the court would like purchase authority and reporting to be handled for the remainder of the fiscal year.
Goldsmith and staff noted there remain roughly 80–105 desktops still running Windows 10 that will require hardware or replacement, cited an upcoming change freeze for the runoff election (change freeze starts May 15), and introduced a proposed IT expenditure policy that would allow the vendor limited latitude for emergency and critical purchases with monthly expenditure reporting to the court. One commissioner asked to table item 11 to allow time to read the policy; the court voted to table further action on the policy and requested a later return to the full court for consideration.
