Haverhill Resident Urges Marshall County to Consider Light-Trespass, Data-center and Wind Ordinances

During public comment May 20, City of Haverhill resident Amy Sinclair told the Board she is troubled by a bright light at a nearby property and asked the county to consider a lighting ordinance, a commercial audit of the property, and ordinances addressing data centers and wind turbines.
Marshall County Planning and Zoning Director, Sanitarian, and Weed Commissioner Tyler Kelley told the Board that “Marshall County does not currently have a Light Trespass Ordinance; however, Iowa Code allows such an ordinance.” Supervisors said they will discuss the matter further with Marshall County Attorney Jordan Gaffney to determine next steps.
