Marshall County to Close Courthouse for May 26 Training; Offices Also to Close July 22 for RAGBRAI

The Marshall County Board of Supervisors voted May 20 to close most Courthouse offices on May 26, 2026, to accommodate a rescheduled all-staff training day. Marshall County Auditor/Recorder Nan Benson told the Board that the training “was later rescheduled to May 26, 2026,” and that the Election Center will remain open to prepare for the June primary.
The Board also voted 3-0 to close County and Courthouse offices on July 22, 2026, during the RAGBRAI event in Marshalltown and encouraged employees to volunteer at RAGBRAI. John Hall, president and CEO of the Marshalltown Area Chamber of Commerce, outlined local plans for the event and volunteer sign-up through the Marshalltown RAGBRAI website. Benson said court offices cannot close entirely and that a designee will be stationed at courthouse entrances to unlock doors and assist people who need access.
