Susan Culp, chair of the Newbury Selectboard, opened the Feb. 25 meeting by thanking Selectboard member Jeff McKelvey on his last regular meeting before retirement, saying he provided leadership ‘‘in several areas such as shepherding the fire station construction project.’’
The minutes record McKelvey’s role in advancing routine board business that evening: he moved or seconded motions approving a seven‑month certificate of deposit for reserve funds, acceptance of multiple construction bids, and the town’s application to the Vermont Department of Taxes for a commercial appraisal assistance review. The board endorsed these items by voice vote; no roll‑call tallies were recorded in the minutes.
Board members and committee chairs noted McKelvey’s long service and assistance on local matters, including Tucker Mountain forestry work described later in the meeting. The board adjourned at 7:48 p.m.
