Avon wetlands panel approves 275 West Main development with conditions

The Inland Wetlands Commission voted unanimously on April 7 to approve Application #809, allowing construction of buildings, driveways, parking, a sidewalk, retaining walls, utilities and a stormwater management system at 275 West Main Street.
Michael Ott, the project engineer, told commissioners that the proposal mirrors an earlier approved plan and that "the limit of disturbance is the same." Town of Avon engineering reviewed the stormwater management plans and returned minor comments, the applicant said. Wetlands Agent Emily Kyle presented a set of conditions the commission attached to the approval; Chair Carol Hauss made the motion to approve and Commissioner Robert Breckinridge seconded it.
The application consolidates two parcels and reflects a conservation restriction recorded in the town land records, the applicant team said. The project team indicated they will again seek approvals from the State of Connecticut Department of Transportation and the Office of State Traffic Administration as required. The commission’s approval is conditioned on the items Kyle itemized and on compliance with applicable IWC regulations and state requirements.
Next steps for the applicant include finalizing responses to town engineering comments and pursuing the remaining state-level permits before construction can begin.
