Rodney Anderson introduced himself on-air after being sworn in to Grand Prairies Place 8 at-large council seat, a term that the reporter said will run through May 2027.
The reporter identified Anderson as a former Texas House member who won a special election to fill the seat vacated earlier this year. Anderson and another speaker exchanged praise for the previous office-holder, Junior Ezanu, with Anderson saying he appreciated the opportunity to return to public service.
Separately, the segment noted that Grand Prairie will hold a May 2 general and bond election to fill two council seats (District 3 and Place 7) and to consider a proposed general obligation bond program totaling $327,000,000. The reporter said, if approved, the bond funds would be used for long-term public projects including streets, public safety enhancements and parks and recreation facilities, and directed listeners to gptx.org/elections for details.
