During the workshop commissioners and staff discussed whether to separate mitigation-affected PWs from recovery-only PWs so the county can receive reimbursement for recovery work more quickly. Consultants warned that including mitigation items in a PW can slow reimbursement because mitigation scoping and BCA/H&H work take longer.
"My last report, minus debris was 1,300,000 in emergency and recovery," said a county staff member, citing the county’s running tally of emergency and recovery costs. Commissioners asked staff to refine those figures, add documentation (overtime, fire-department vehicle loss) to SharePoint, and clarify which sites should remain recovery-only to accelerate payments.
