Kalkaska County approves emergency manager and local law-enforcement agreements

Commissioner Scott Matley moved to approve the Frederick Township Emergency Manager contract covering Oct. 1, 2025, through Sept. 3, 2027; the motion was recorded as consensus with no opposition. The committee separately approved agreements enabling Kalkaska County law-enforcement coverage for Rapid River Township and for Forest Area Schools and authorized the board chair to sign both agreements.
The agreements were introduced in the Judiciary & Public Safety section of the agenda by Patrick Whiteford (recorded in the minutes as Admin/CFO; the minutes also reference 'Sheriff Patrick Whiteford' in the same section). No dollar amounts for the law-enforcement agreements were specified in the minutes. The committee did not record any opposing votes on these items.
