Henderson adopts new false alarm fees: $500 for repeat alarms, effective April 1

The Board adopted Resolution 2026-001, revising the city’s false fire call fee schedule. The resolution acknowledges the city’s cost to respond to false fire calls can range between $500 and $1,000 per call and attributes a rise in repeat false alarms in recent years. Under the adopted policy, any structure with a fire alarm receives one free false alarm each calendar month; the second and third false alarms in a month will be billed $500 each, and the fourth and subsequent false alarms $700 each. Chief Doug Acred and assistant CMFO Alicia Holder told the board the department will notify owners and invoice monthly; the policy becomes effective April 1, 2026.
A motion to adopt Resolution 2026-001 was made by Ald. Mark A. Barber and seconded by Ald. Michael Phelps; the board approved the resolution by roll call, 6–0.
