Henderson board adopts ordinance requiring most full-time employees to live within 15 miles or in county

On final reading the Henderson Board of Mayor and Aldermen adopted Ordinance #584, which amends Title 4, Chapter 2, Section 4-205 of the municipal code to change residence requirements for department heads and full-time firemen. Recorder Jim E. Garland said the ordinance mirrors changes discussed at the previous meeting and sets a one-year compliance period from date of employment.
Alderman Donna R. Butler moved to approve Ordinance #584 on final reading and Alderman Buel Maness seconded. The board voted unanimously (Ayes: Mark A. Barber, Donna Butler, Buel Maness, Michael Phelps, Jason Rhodes, Keith Smith; Noes: None) and Mayor Terry F. Bell declared the ordinance approved.
