Terry Frewen was elected chair of the Ionia County Board of Commissioners at the board's organizational meeting on Jan. 13, 2026. Jack Shattuck nominated Frewen; the board elected him by unanimous roll call vote.
The board also chose Gordon Kelley as vice chair, a nomination moved by Frewen and approved by unanimous roll call vote. Commissioners moved to adopt the board bylaws (moved by Scott Wirtz) and approved the meeting agenda; both motions carried. The actions establish leadership and procedural rules for the board's 2026 term.
