Event complex staff told the board the facility is ramping up for August with multiple quinceañeras, the national motorcycle rally scheduled for Labor Day weekend and a renewed movie and concert series that has already attracted larger sponsorships.
"We are kicking things off on the 14th with the Sandlot… and then we roll into Top Gun 2 Maverick as a kickoff to the air show," staff said, listing themed nights and noting movie sponsorships are already at $8,100 with additional sponsors still coming in. Staff said last year brought in about $7,500 in movie sponsorships and this year's early numbers indicate the program may surpass that.
Staff reviewed the kickoff concert as a proof of concept: roughly $15,500 in revenue to date, solid sound and a VIP/mezzanine model that, if scaled, could materially boost rodeo ticket revenues. The staff noted preliminary concert expenses were under $19,000 with lingering bills to be accounted for, and recommended refining restroom and food access logistics before repeating similar events.
Board members discussed aligning larger name bands to slower fair nights and using ticketed, stand‑alone concerts to avoid paying premiums tied to fair scheduling. The board encouraged continued coordination with downtown organizations and the Chamber to improve cross‑promotion.
No vote was taken; staff will continue booking and report back with finalized sponsor and expense totals.
