HR said the attendance-recovery effort recouped 23,923 days, amounting to $1,674,610 this year.
Board members raised concerns about volunteer discouragement and accountability for nonemployees; HR acknowledged the challenge and said the district sought but did not secure changes to the law. HR said it will work to schedule trainings and to track records centrally so volunteers who train once can serve at multiple district sites.
