Facilities update: locker rooms, scoreboard, pad certification and portables moving this summer

Facilities presenter Mr. Barrios reported progress on multiple summer construction projects: pad certification and over-excavation at the BAC annex, mitigation work after encountering a century-old sewer line, finishing work in remodeled locker rooms, replacement of an aging scoreboard with a modern LED screen and new sound system, and portable relocations to address changing enrollment.

Barrios described the sewer line discovery and mitigation planning: "there's a old sewer line that is about 13 feet deep, 14 feet deep that we tie into. So we are in the process of mitigating and trying to, find a solution for that so that we don't have a 70 year old line under our new building so that it'll last us 100 years." He said the district has an architect on board for portable moves, has completed underground locational surveys, and has a DSA appointment planned in July; he estimated the portable moves would be completed before winter but said exact timing depends on approvals and contractor scheduling.

Board members asked about scoreboard lifespan and timeline; staff said electronics typically last 10-15 years and that the new LED technologies provide a larger projection area. For Longley Way and Highland Oaks, Barrios said demolition and installation activity had begun and the district is coordinating contractors and site flexibility to meet fall needs.
