Arcadia reports robust summer-enrollment signups and plans PK showcase, MTSS learning walks

District educational-services staff told the board that summer extended-learning enrollment is open and that nearly 400 students have registered for free summer programming scheduled July 6–24 for eligible students.
Dr. Forsey noted the district will host a universal preschool (PK) showcase at Holly Avenue on April 1 from 9 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. and invited board members to attend. He also described an upcoming MTSS elementary learning-walk day on March 31 where mixed groups will observe TK, primary and upper-grade classrooms with a focus on play-based TK instruction and refining small-group instruction in other grades.
On outreach to English learners, staff will distribute an English learner needs-assessment survey to families next week and share results with the district language advisory committee (DLAC). For absence recovery, the district said it is currently recovering about half of recorded absences and will survey students and families after spring break to better understand barriers to completing recovery tasks.
