Construction and solar projects advance across Arcadia Unified campuses, district says

District facilities staff provided a detailed update on construction and solar projects at the March 24 board meeting, reporting steady progress at Arcadia High and multiple campuses in the districtwide solar rollout.
Facilities presenter Mr. Barrios described exterior stucco and interior restroom and shower tile work at Arcadia High, noted locker deliveries later this year, and said much of the steel erection is complete at several sites. "So you can see, stucco has been placed on the exterior of the buildings," Mr. Barrios told the board during his presentation. He also said maintenance-yard construction is underway and the district has coordinated with the city on softening the appearance of a newly installed wrought-iron fence at Hugo Reed Primary Park.
On solar, Mr. Barrios said panels are up and operational at 1st Avenue, Camino Grove and Longview Way and that the district has received permission to operate (PTO) from Southern California Edison for those three sites. He said a majority of sites have been shut down and turned back on for work and that Edison must still issue PTO for other campuses. The district plans several scheduled shutdowns for electrical work; Barrios warned that some work will temporarily darken campus areas during late-night windows but reported that most shutdowns have gone smoothly and power has been restored by midnight.
Barrios also outlined how the district is relocating classrooms that were housed in portables scheduled for demolition, citing spaces identified across campus including a permanent move of the print shop into the J Building with an exterior-access gate and a designated short-term parking spot for customers.
Timeline: Barrios said construction will resume after spring break with a groundbreaking for the PAC Annex expected soon; he estimated the PAC Annex to be completed in spring 2027 and Building A to be ready by fall 2027, contingent on permitting and Edison sign-offs.
