Traill County approves FEMA fund uses and approves Belmont Township culvert project funding

Road Superintendent Corwyn Martin asked the commission to use remaining 2019 FEMA funds totaling $91,952.27 for Bridges 361 and 374 to close out the 2019 FEMA account; the commission approved that request. The commission also approved transferring 2022 FEMA funds in the amount of $184,753.98 into the Road & Bridge account to reimburse labor and equipment costs and close the 2022 FEMA account.
Martin asked the commission to approve purchasing an extended 1,000‑hour warranty for the Highway Department’s 2018 Cat motor grader at a cost of $5,150; the commission approved the purchase. Sean Kelly, KLJ PE, summarized Flex Fund agreements: removal of Bridge 232 for $60,000 and a Belmont Township bridge/culvert project estimated at $978,300 requiring a local match of $116,830; Belmont Township agreed to contribute $25,000 toward the local match. The commission approved the Belmont project funding as described.
Finally, the commission approved a right-of-way agreement requested by Rural Water to install a water line through county-owned FEMA land in Herberg Township; State’s Attorney Charlie Stock stated the contract looked acceptable and the commission approved signing it. These approvals were recorded as motions carried in the minutes.
