During its March 2 meeting, the Manistee County Recreation Commission discussed a potential trailhead at Healy Lake, citing existing amenities and access to a snowmobile trail. Members said the planned April 17 ribbon-cutting is likely to be rescheduled due to snow conditions and asked staff to research trail counters to track usage and seasonal signage and gates to prevent ORV misuse outside snowmobile season.
Commissioners also noted ongoing discussions with tribal representatives about trail connections and anticipated a formal meeting on the issue; no formal decision or funding commitment was taken at this session.
