County staff reported progress on the Swedish Immigrant Regional Trail (SIRT). For Segment D, additional survey work outside the original design limits is being gathered and MnDOT was expected to review that information; WSB completed a 100% plan set that was provided to the county and city, and a combined permit application has been submitted to the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and the Minnesota DNR. Staff said a DNR site meeting is scheduled and that determinations on wetland types, impacts and required mitigation credits are expected within four to six weeks.
Staff also said Segment E will go out to bid on May 21. Parks Maintenance has completed clearing and pruning along the 2.1-mile corridor and staff met with the Public Works Engineering Team on April 10 to coordinate. The projected construction window for Segment E is August 3 to September 15, 2026; no contract award was recorded at the meeting.
