Floyd County adopts new zoning fee schedule for permits, turbines and solar

The adopted schedule lists a $300 fee for rezoning, variances and most conditional-use applications, a $100 charge per non-commercial wind turbine and $1,000 per commercial/utility-scale turbine. The schedule also sets residential building permit fees (e.g., $250 for homes under 1,500 square feet) and commercial rates up to $1,500 for buildings larger than 100,000 square feet. The Board’s roll call vote on the resolution was recorded as Rottinghaus, Campbell and Carr — motion carried 3-0.
The change replaces the prior sliding-scale structure with flat fees for many permit types; the Resolution text recorded in the meeting minutes is entered as Res. 09-26. The action is intended to standardize permit charges and provide clearer, fixed costs for applicants. The county file lists the full fee table as approved by the Board.
