The Chattahoochee Hills City Council on Dec. 5 unanimously approved a 90‑day moratorium on accepting rezoning applications, councilmembers said at the meeting.
"It was moved by Councilmember Peek and seconded by Councilmember Schmidt to approve the Resolution for a 90‑Day Moratorium Upon Accepting Applications for Rezoning," the council recorded. Councilmember Lightsey introduced the item as Item 24‑074. The motion passed unanimously.
Councilmembers and staff framed the moratorium as a pause to allow the city time to evaluate zoning rules and to consider large, pending development applications that are already in state review, including a multi‑thousand‑acre DRI that staff described as the largest the state has reviewed. The moratorium does not retroactively alter applications already filed in the DRI process, which staff said will continue through its state review.
The council did not attach a specific reopen date beyond the 90‑day window in the motion; staff will report back to council as the moratorium period proceeds.
