Emergency Management Director Steve Sinagra updated the Board of Selectmen on the town's response to severe thunderstorms the evening of July 4. He said the event produced straight‑line winds (not a confirmed tornado), took down power and trees and prompted a partial activation of the Emergency Operations Center to coordinate high call volumes and protect residents with medical needs.
"We experienced about 2,700 outages in our town out of 10,515 customers," Sinagra said, adding that roughly 50 customers remained without power at the time of the briefing and crews expected to restore service by midnight. Sinagra described Eversource’s prioritization process—critical infrastructure and circuits with the most customers are restored first—and said town staff worked closely with public works, police and fire to clear roads and ensure emergency access. He said no injuries were reported and that, because the governor did not declare a statewide emergency, county/FEMA reimbursement remains unlikely unless thresholds are met.
