City wins three grants totaling roughly $755,000 for housing study, safety planning and universal access trail

City economic development staff announced three awards that together bring significant funding for planning and trails. Chris Montinos said the Urban Land Institute selected the city for a Micro Technical Assistance Program (MTAP) grant of about $75,000 to expand the Rico Crossroads housing feasibility study.
Montinos also said the city received a $180,000 Safe Streets and Roads for All award that, with a 20% local match, yields a $225,000 citywide transportation safety action plan. "We actually received a $180,000. We've got a 20% match on that to make that a $225,000, citywide transportation safety action study," he told the council. Finally, Montinos said the Wheel Beautiful universal access trail received $500,000 to be programmed into the Atlanta Regional Commission's TIP in February.
Council members praised the staff for grant acquisition and noted the funding will support multimodal transportation planning and trail development. The awards were presented as information during the staff report; specific contracts or appropriations will follow standard procurement and programming steps.
