Officials told the Huntsville Town Council work session on June 18 that relying on a single parking enforcement worker to manually direct a high volume of vehicles at Cemetery Point raises safety concerns. Andrea Dangerfield of Huntsville Parking Enforcement has been directing traffic since the toll booth was moved, and participants said that approach leaves the worker exposed to fast-moving cars.
Council members and agency partners discussed mitigation options, including contracting off-duty police officers for peak weekends, deploying electronic signage to reduce manual direction, and staging additional parking enforcement staff. No staffing change was approved during the session; the group agreed to evaluate options before the upcoming Fourth of July holiday.
