Jake Bennett, planner with the City of McKinney, presented a design-exception request for two proposed restaurants near the southeast corner of US-380 and Custer. The applicant requested a 5-foot reduction to the street landscape buffer, proposing a 20-foot buffer to match adjacent properties in the West Grove development; Bennett said "the design exception is only for the 5 foot reduction" and that staff believes the request meets UDC criteria and recommended approval.
Commissioner Buettner made a motion to close the public hearing and approve the item; Commissioner Craig seconded and the commission voted 7-0 to approve the design exception. Bennett confirmed all other standards, including parking, would be met and that the reduction was sought to keep the site consistent with neighboring development.
