Board appoints Measure A and combined bond oversight committee members

The Arcadia Unified School District Board of Education unanimously approved appointments to two citizen oversight committees at its July 28 meeting.
Business services director Mister Esselstyn outlined the Measure A oversight roster and thanked outgoing member Sharon Van Kirk, who had reached the district's six‑year term limit. Esselstyn recommended reappointing Matthias Huber, Steve Rhee and Jason Wang and named Simon Liu as a new member. "We have 3 existing members that are returning for another 2 year term, and they are Matthias Huber, Steve Rhee, and Jason Wang. We also have 1 brand new member, and that is Simon Liu," Esselstyn said. Mr. Chung moved to approve the appointments and the motion carried by voice vote.
On the bond side, Esselstyn described the combined Measure I/Measure AS bond oversight committee, thanked Susan Lawie and Jennifer Ledesma for completing three‑year terms, and recommended reappointing Philip Gonzalez, Sonia Martin and Stanley (last name redacted in the transcript). He also recommended new members Renee Banura and Tina Lee. Miss Fargo moved to appoint the bond oversight members, Miss Wong seconded and the board approved the slate. Board members noted some committees require representation from specific stakeholder groups—parents, local business owners and seniors—and asked staff to ensure applications reflect those categories.
