Technology: 2,500 student Chromebooks arriving; district warns of rising cyberattacks

Technology staff reported the district has taken delivery of around 2,500 student Chromebooks for the coming school year to begin a four-year refresh cycle for specific grades. "We have taken delivery of student Chromebooks for the coming school year... we have about 2,500 Chromebooks that we need to configure and get unpacked," the technology presenter said.
The presentation thanked staff who supported the Arcadia Invitational and noted that TIS works closely with HR to ensure credential data is accurate. On cybersecurity, the technology lead cautioned the board that "we've been seeing an increase in cyberattacks... a lot of it related to what's going on on the international, with the international events. So just a reminder for anyone who's listening... be careful what you click on in your emails." The district said systems monitor attacks and staff are available to support sites needing help.
Staff did not provide details on the budget for the device refresh at the meeting; implementation logistics (configuration schedule and distribution) were described as ongoing.
