Council approves Buckshot Addition rezoning and final plat
Summary
The council closed public hearings and adopted Ordinance No. 8772 rezoning 119 Central Avenue to a business park district and approved the Buckshot Addition final plat and subdivision agreement (Resolution 2025-156) following a presentation by Craig Bennett and staff clarification that neighboring letters described a boundary dispute, not a zoning impediment.

Craig Bennett of Miller Associates presented the Buckshot Addition proposal — consolidating parcels east of Central Avenue and north of 1st Street into a one-lot subdivision (preliminary/final plat ~4.83 acres; rezoning acreage to centerline ~5.22 acres) and seeking rezoning from C2/MM1 to C3 to enable future commercial development. "We're asking to rezone the property, from C 2 And M M 1 to C 3," Bennett said, and he noted existing 16-inch water mains and 15-inch sanitary sewer mains adjacent to the site.
Council members asked whether letters from adjoining landowners raised objections; a staff representative (speaker 6) said the correspondence described a claimed boundary issue that would be resolved through the courts and would not affect the rezoning or platting process. Committee member (speaker 2) moved to close Public Hearing 1 and adopt Ordinance No. 8772 (rezoning 119 Central Avenue to BP/Business Park) with suspension of successive readings; the motion passed on roll call. The council also moved to adopt Resolution No. 2025-156 approving the final plat and subdivision agreement for the Buckshot Addition.
