Salem Township hires Merle Musick of American Building Inspection Services as Building Code Official

The Salem Township Board of Supervisors unanimously voted on Feb. 26, 2026 to hire Merle Musick of American Building Inspection Services, Inc. as the township’s Building Code Official to fill the vacancy left by the resignation of the previous official.
Supervisor Todd Paulich moved to hire Musick and Supervisor Bob Zundel seconded the motion; Supervisors Kerry Jobe, Bob Zundel and Todd Paulich voted for the motion. According to meeting remarks, Musick is a full‑time BCO for Unity Township and also performs inspections for Derry, Scottdale and Cook townships and will take on Loyalhanna. The board record states the fee arrangement with American Building Inspection Services will “go back to the 80/20 split where Salem will receive 20% of the building permit fees and American Inspection Services will retain 80%.”
