A representative of Carolina Rebuilding Ministries described local housing repairs and volunteer contributions and asked permission to continue work on a CDBG application to repair Building 100 (the old Southwest School). He told the board the organization had exceeded its initial target: "We repaired 90 homes," and urged the county to allow the group to finish the grant application and receive any funds passed through the county to the nonprofit.
Deborah Freeman, executive director of the Good Shepherd Food Pantry, said the pantry has grown since moving to the new building and is "doing over 800 families a month," providing backpacks and food boxes to schools and families. The board placed the Carolina Rebuilding Ministries grant authorization on the consent agenda for approval and later approved the consent item.
