Staff member Reyna told the board the shed was constructed in 2016, is a detached structure that was built to look older but is not historic, and that a tree is growing into the shed and causing damage ("It was constructed in 2016"; "it's causing a lot of damage") (SEG 292, SEG 298). Reyna said she reviewed Sanborn maps and found no historic structure on the site prior to 2016 and recommended approval of the demolition request.
Reyna outlined the board's options—approve, approve with conditions, deny, or issue a 90‑day delay after which the COA would be issued—and recommended approval because the shed is not character‑defining and would not alter the priority rating of the primary house (SEG 316–321).
A motion to approve demolition was seconded and the Chair announced the motion carried unanimously (SEG 326–336). The board did not impose conditions or a delay; staff will issue the COA as appropriate.
The board's action clears the property owner to remove the damaged shed and replace it in a different location or construct a new garage per the owner's plan.
