Anthony Resendiz, dual director of sales for Home2 Suites and SpringHill Suites, told the Visit McKinney board that the two properties are focused on capturing group business (weddings, sports, medical teams) and cross‑selling stays between the adjoining brands.
Resendiz described SpringHill as a 125‑room property with meeting space and Home2 as a 107‑unit extended‑stay product. He cited historical occupancy/performance metrics, noting Home2 has sustained occupancy around 80% and that the hotels use group blocks and neighbor rates (including medical and long‑term project business) to build a base. "We handle roughly about 4 to maybe 5 wedding blocks on any given weekend," Resendiz said, explaining how wedding and sports business feed into overall room night totals.
The presenters emphasized the value of Visit McKinney’s event work, saying staff referrals and citywide partnerships helped staff blocks for the NCAA event and other citywide tournaments. Visit McKinney staff thanked the hoteliers for rapid responses to group leads and for coordination on staffing and guest experience. Resendiz also said hoteliers are monitoring the AC Marriott (tentative July opening) and a JW Marriott (tentatively targeting 2030) as properties that could alter future capacity and ability to host larger NCAA or similar events.
