The Board discussed whether to continue the county’s membership in the National Association of Counties (NACo), a $3,086 annual expense that was removed from the 2026 budget during budget workshops. Commissioner Chokwe Pitchford told commissioners he serves on the NACo Board and said he would have to vacate his position if the county stopped its membership.
After discussion the consensus of the commissioners was not to renew the County’s NACo membership for 2026. The minutes say the membership will be reviewed for possible funding in the 2027 budget.
