Board hears staffing and intake report for Animal Services; 911 CAD implementation scheduled to begin with fire departments

The Administration Committee told the Board that the Animal Services team is down a few staff members and provided intake and release statistics for the reporting year: 269 dogs taken in and 231 released; 213 cats taken in and 237 released. The committee noted staffing challenges and discussed operational statistics as part of its update to the full board on March 26, 2026.
The committee also reported that 911 staffing should be 33 telecommunicators but that the service currently has 28 on staff. County staff outlined a phased Computer-Aided Dispatch (CAD) implementation: begin with fire departments by this fall and then implement for police departments, with a goal of completion by the end of the year.
